Five Year Plan

2008

This year the students will be heavily involved in physically building the school.
Because we have had delays in the organising of legalities, we may well encounter some difficulties in the future with different official departments. This may even take us into the following year to complete the buildings. The boys will be endeavouring to do their best to get it completed with the year.

2009

This is the hoped-for plan if there are no difficulties, then it should be accomplished in this time. We can hope for the cooperation of legal departments to help with this. If it happens that the doors are opened in 2009, then the courses of Furniture Making and Building Construction will be commenced.

A sewing room will be set up, and young women will be invited to take short courses and learn basic sewing skills, in order to care for their family needs. Advanced courses could also be offered, according to demand and to availability of instructors. This is seen as a great need and a priority to help the women of Vanuatu.

With the Furniture and Building training programme will be the selecting of certain of the most promising students to be specially trained by the advisor to become the teachers in the school. The names of these students cannot be given at this moment but during the year 2009 and

2010

they will be named and special training will be given to them. If government desire them to do a teaching course with them, then this will be taken into consideration as well. It may take a few years to be able to select the best students to take up leadership positions. This will be the direct responsibility of the advisor. Year 2009 will also be the year when Agriculture is offered as part of the training of the Institute. It will depend upon the acquisition of adequate machinery, and the person chosen to lead out in this matter.

2011

The advisor will be required to continue to train the best students and to begin plans for adding Mechanics and Boat Building. His responsibility will be to submit to the government education department the required modules for accreditation. The addition of these other courses will of course depend upon facilities available and also finance. It will also be the advisor’s responsibility to acquire the required trained teachers to fill these positions.

2012

By this time there should be boys finishing the course who will be selected to take the leading roles in the teaching of the Furniture Making and the House Building. The teachers for Mechanics and Boat Building will not be available yet because they may only be in their second year and not be distinguishable for teaching positions.

2013

and onwards it will be the advisor’s responsibility to assess the future financial position of the school as it has been in the past five years.
